Overview
Cornerstone now offers the option to set different payment limits for Credit Card versus ACH transactions in AlarmPayments.com. This article explains how payment limits work, what happens when a limit is exceeded, and how to get your limits configured.
How Payment Limits Work
You can configure separate maximum payment amounts for each payment type in AlarmPayments.com:
| Payment Type | Limit Setting |
|---|---|
| Credit Card | Card Limit |
| ACH (bank transfer) | ACH Limit |
This allows you to manage transaction sizes and reduce risk according to your business needs by applying different thresholds to each payment method.
When a Limit Is Exceeded
If a user attempts to submit a payment that exceeds the configured limit, the following will occur:
- A popup message is displayed containing your custom ACH / Card Limit Msg text.
- The payment is blocked — the user cannot move forward until they reduce the payment amount to within the configured limit.
⚠️ IMPORTANT
The popup message text shown to users comes from your custom ACH / Card Limit Msg field. You can provide this message text when contacting Cornerstone to configure your limits (see below).
Setting Up Different Limits
Payment limits are configured by the Cornerstone team on your behalf. Follow the steps below to get your limits set up:
- Determine your desired limits for each payment type — decide on a maximum amount for Credit Card payments (Card Limit) and a maximum amount for ACH payments (ACH Limit).
- Contact Cornerstone to request that the settings be updated in your database.
- Provide your custom limit message text (optional) — this is the message your customers will see if they exceed a limit.
Cornerstone will configure these limits on your behalf once your request is received.
