You can integrate your Dropbox with Cornerstone and link documents to your customers' accounts.
Installing Dropbox for Desktop
Step 1: Download and Install
- Using your browser navigate to https://www.dropbox.com/desktop
- Download the Dropbox for Desktop application
- Install Dropbox and sign into your Dropbox Account
- Dropbox will setup a new folder on your computer
Step 2: Get the Network Path
- Right Click on the Dropbox folder and then left click Properties
- Click Sharing tab
- Highlight the network path
- Example:
\\OFFICE-PC-11\Users\username\Dropbox - Click CTRL+C to copy
Step 3: Map a Network Drive
You need to map a network drive to your Dropbox folder.
For Windows 11
- Go to File Explorer (Yellow Folder) or This PC
- Right Click on This PC
- Left click Show More Options
- On the new menu window, Click Map Network Drive
- With the Map Network Drive window open:
- Select the drive letter you would like to use from the Drive: drop down box (Example: R:)
- In the folder box enter: the path copied in step 2 (Example:
\\OFFICE-PC-11\Users\yourusername\Dropbox) - Put a check in: Reconnect at sign-in
- Click Finish
For Windows 10
- Go to File Explorer (Yellow Folder) or This PC
- Right Click on This PC
- Left click Map Network Drive
- With the Map Network Drive window open:
- Select the drive letter you would like to use from the Drive: drop down box (Example: R:)
- In the folder box enter: the path copied in step 2 or CTRL+V to paste (Example:
\\OFFICE-PC-11\Users\yourusername\Dropbox) - Put a check in: Reconnect at sign-in
- Click Finish
Linking Documents to Customer Accounts
Step 1: Open Customer Account
- Click Customers
- Highlight the account you would like to link a document to
- Click Change or double left click customer account
- With the customer account open, Click Documents
Step 2: Insert Document
From the document window, Click Insert.
Depending on how your company is setup to link documents to Cornerstone, you will see one of the following methods:
- FTP - Follow FTP instructions below
- MAPPING - Follow MAPPING instructions below
For FTP Users
Attaching Documents
- At the confirmation prompt click Yes
- The file explorer window will open
- Navigate to the drive that was setup for Dropbox (Example: R:\ drive)
- Double left click to open the drive folder or highlight the drive and click Open
- The window explorer window will show the contents of your Dropbox drive
- Navigate to the document you wish to attach to the customer
- To attach multiple documents: Hold CTRL + Left Click on each file
- With all the files highlighted click Open to attach
- You will receive a notification showing how many files were attached
- Click OK to continue
Viewing Documents
The customer account number is appended to the File Description and File Name.
To edit the Description:
- Highlight the document in the list
- Click Change
To view the document:
- Highlight it
- Click View
To view a document before importing:
- Click View Remote
- Navigate to your drive letter for Dropbox (Example: R:\ drive)
- Navigate to your document
- Click Open
- Your document will be displayed in the Viewer
For MAPPING Users
Attaching Documents
- Click upload file icon
- File explorer window will open
- Navigate to the drive letter that you have setup for Dropbox (Example: R:\ drive)
- Double left click to open the drive folder or highlight the drive letter and click Open
- The file explorer window will show the contents of your Dropbox drive
- Navigate to the document you wish to attach to the customer
- Highlight the file and click Open to attach
Note: The file name is shown in the Description field and the path to the file is shown under File Name. Example: R: drive is the Dropbox drive letter, the path shows \\tsclient\R\TEST.txt
- The file has now been imported
- Click OK to complete import
Viewing Documents
To view the document:
- Highlight it in the document list
- Click View
- Your document will be displayed in the Viewer
To view a document before importing:
- Click View Remote
- Navigate to the drive letter for your Dropbox drive (Example: R:\ drive)
- Navigate to the file
- Highlight the file and click Open
- Your document will be displayed in the Viewer
