Overview
This guide explains how to apply a Quick Credit to a customer account — either to an entire invoice or to a specific line item. This is useful when a credit adjustment is needed without generating a separate credit memo or modifying the original invoice manually.
This process is completed directly from within the customer's account in Cornerstone Billing Solutions.
Before You Begin
Before applying a Quick Credit, confirm the following:
- You have access to the customer's account in Cornerstone Billing Solutions.
- You know whether the credit should be applied to the full invoice or to a specific line item.
- You have the credit amount, the Category of Credit, and any relevant description text ready.
How to Apply a Quick Credit
Follow the steps below to apply a Quick Credit to an invoice or line item.
- Navigate to Invoice History. From the customer account, click Invoice History.
- Open the invoice. Highlight and select, or double-click, the invoice you wish to credit.
- Select the line item. Highlight the specific line item you want to apply the credit to.
- Click Quick Credit. Click the Quick Credit button to open the credit options.
- Choose the credit scope.Select one of the following options:
- "To Invoice" — applies the credit to the entire invoice.
- "To Line" — applies the credit to the selected line item only.
- Enter the credit amount. Type the $ amount of the credit to be applied.
- Select the Category of Credit. Enter or choose the appropriate Category of Credit.
- Add a description. Enter any relevant Descriptions to document the reason for the credit.
- Apply the credit. Click OK to apply the credit.
- Save the invoice. Click OK again to save the invoice with the credit applied.
⚠️ IMPORTANT
Be sure to click OK twice — once to apply the credit and once to save the invoice. Skipping the second confirmation will result in the credit not being saved to the invoice record.
